Emily + Kyle Intimate Backyard Wedding | Scottsdale Wedding Photographer

On the afternoon of Emily + Kyle's backyard wedding in Scottsdale, the bright, sunny Arizona weather decided to take the day off.  Storm clouds rolled in, and it looked like these two high school sweethearts might be saying "I do" in the rain.  The wind picked up and blew the table linens, raising concerns about their proximity to the pool.  Regardless, preparations went forward for their backyard ceremony.  In the end, we came off with just a sprinkle of rain, which created a rainbow and a beautiful memory!

Emily + Kyle met in high school.  She left a note in his locker, saying that she'd like to get to know him better.  That was the beginning of many years together.  High school, college, graduate school, and beyond--life just made more sense together.  They traveled to foreign countries, piled up degrees, friends, and memories, and by the time they said "I do," many of their friends had forgotten what it was like before their was an Emily + Kyle.

Congratulations, you guys!  I was an honor to be part of your intimate gathering of friends and family!

Emily carried this unique bouquet made of paper flowers with a wire stem.  The horse head is part of a hilarious inside joke.

They strung crystals from the tree behind the wedding ceremony.  I love this creative touch.

Before the first look, Kyle had no idea that his bride was planning a small practical joke.

For years, they joked about wearing a horse head to their wedding.

Imagine Kyle's surprise when Emily showed up in the horse head after all.

Rock-Paper-Scissors battle to determine who said read their vows first.

Emily wanted to make sure and get a photo of her rings with her grandmothers' rings.

A camera drone flew around the backyard during cocktail hour

Instead of a cake and groom's cake, they had a tower of macaroons and a chocolates.

The first dance took place outside on the patio

AND of course, the horse heads made another appearance!
